A father tries to stab another in a grassroots football match in Cádiz

This weekend there was a new unfortunate episode in a youth soccer match during the Ibercup Andalucía 2023 celebration in Sotogrande in Cádiz, when a parent attacked another parent with a sharp object. Facts that unfortunately are increasingly common in competitions, even for children, where they and sports values such as respect for the opponent should be the protagonists.

In the images published on Twitter, a fight between two men can be seen when one of them pulls out a sharp object. The brawl occurs with many people around and under the gaze of relatives and children who were at the children's sporting event.

The witnesses present there try to separate them but the assailant tries up to two times to stab the other with whom he was having a dispute. Thanks to the intervention of the public, who manage to avoid greater evils, the attacked manages to leave accompanied by a woman while other people grab the armed man.

According to La Sexta, there were no injuries, although the victim left with a hand on his forehead.

It is not clear what the man is trying to attack another father with: the newspaper Marca speaks of a "blade weapon" while La Sexta refers to a "selfie stick". The truth is that the images do not clearly show what is in his hands, but the violence with which the aggressor brandishes the sharp object against another person is evident before the astonished gaze of families and children in a sports competition.

The video captures an embarrassing moment that is not new on soccer fields and that is especially relevant because it occurs in the lower categories.

Violence in soccer is not new and is especially worrying when it occurs in children's tournaments. Other parents also staged another embarrassing altercation at a match in Marbella, where the referee had to call the Police when a fight broke out between parents in the stands with insults and threats.
