A 47-year-old man dies of heat stroke in Aznalcóllar

The heat wave that the province of Seville is going through these days has claimed the first official fatality. This is a 47-year-old man from Aznalcóllar (Seville), with previous pathologies, as confirmed by sources from the Ministry of Health and Consumption to Europa Press.

The worker died this Sunday due to heat stroke and the reasons "are related to his work in the field." On July 15, the death of a person attributable to high temperatures was recorded in Seville, also in the middle of a heat wave.

Aznalcóllar lives with "dismay" what happened this past Sunday. As reported to Europa Press by municipal sources, the 47-year-old man would have gone to an agricultural farm he owned, to plow his crops when the province of Seville was already facing an orange alert for maximum temperatures above 40 degrees.

In this context, around 1:00 p.m., the man reportedly showed symptoms of indisposition, being initially assisted by one of his sons and later evacuated to the municipal health center, where a doctor reported that he was suffering from an intense fever of more than 40 degrees.

The man would have finally died in the aforementioned health center, his corpse being cremated this past Sunday after a funeral mass in the parish of Nuestra Señora de Consolación de Aznalcóllar.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had activated a red warning for this Monday due to the risk of high maximum temperatures of up to 44 degrees throughout the Seville countryside, in the middle of this first heat wave Yago Sevilla, named after the project Prometheus.

The maximum temperatures will continue Tuesday and Wednesday above said mark, reaching up to 42 degrees according to Aemet forecasts, which maintains the orange notice for both days.
