A 43-year-old Spanish soldier dies during a NATO live-fire exercise in Poland

A corporal from the General Command of Ceuta, identified with the initials B. G. P. A. and aged 43, died this Monday during a NATO exercise in Poland, as confirmed by the Army.

As detailed by the Terran Army, the accident occurred during the execution of a tactical exercise "with live fire" at the Polish maneuver field Bemowo Piskie, during the 'Saber Strike' exercise, integrated into the maneuver 'Steadfast Defender 24', in which various units of this force participate along with other allied countries.

The corporal was the father of two daughters and a native of Ecuador. He had joined the Army as a soldier in 2004, his current assignment being the 54th Regular Group, in Ceuta. He had the Bronze Cross for Consistency in Service and the Operation Balmis Commemorative Medal.

The Army has conveyed its condolences and joins the pain of his family and unit colleagues. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has also added his condolences through his X account. "I want to convey my most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the Spanish corporal who died today in an accident in Poland during NATO maneuvers. ", He has written. "A heartfelt hug to his colleagues from Tabor I of the Ceuta Regular Group and to the entire Army family," he added.
