WhatsApp already allows you to edit your messages: this is how the new option works

WhatsApp users already enjoy one of the most demanded options: message editing. From now on, anyone will be able to "correct any error" in the text, specify a comment or simply modify it because they have changed their mind, the platform notes on its blog.

"We are pleased to offer you more control over your chats, since now you can from correcting simple misspellings to adding additional context to a message," explains the company.

This function began to be implemented last week throughout the world, although it has not been until now when it has reached the majority of WhatsApp users in Spain. Both Android and Apple iOS users will be able to edit messages. However, the platform has not announced whether it will implement it later in its web version, which is increasingly used.

Modifying messages in WhatsApp is very simple. The user who wants to change one of his texts will only have to press and hold on the sent message and choose "Edit" from the menu. However, this possibility will only be allowed for a limited time: up to fifteen minutes after sending the message.

The recipient will know that this message has been modified, warns the instant messaging platform. So that the users who receive the message know that the emissary has modified them, the edited texts will appear as "edited", but without showing the history of editions.

Despite the changes, WhatsApp promises the same privacy: "As with all personal messages, multimedia files, and calls, the changes you make will be protected by end-to-end encryption."
