'The Last of Us Part II Remastered' is a reality: first trailer and release date

The Last of Us Part II Remastered will go on sale on January 19 exclusively for PlayStation 5. Sony has announced this update to the game developed by Naughty Dog hours after its existence was leaked in several specialized media.

In addition to announcing the existence of this new version of the acclaimed post-apocalyptic adventure published in June 2020 for PlayStation 4, the Japanese company has also published its first trailer, which can be seen below.

As can be seen in the video, the PS5 update for The Last of Us Remastered Part II will include various graphical improvements, “including native 4K output in Fidelity mode, upscaling from 1440 to 4K in Performance mode and a frame rate option unlocked for TVs that support VRR.”

The official PlayStation blog offers a complete gallery of screenshots of this reissue and also details that it will have “higher resolution textures, a higher level of detail, as well as improvements in the quality of shadows, animations, among other improvements ”.

Reduced loading times will be another new feature of this version for PS5, which will also be compatibility with the DualSense controller to offer haptic feedback and the use of adaptive triggers.

As is customary in the latest major PlayStation releases, this version of the adventure starring Ellie and Abby will add even more accessibility options. “We've made sure that Part II's award-winning set of accessibility options returns for the PS5 experience, along with new additions like the inclusion of descriptive audio and voice-to-vibration, which uses the DualSense controller to cue speech and voice. cadence of the characters,” explains Jonathon Dorbush of Naughty Dog.

However, the most striking thing is not the new features in the technical section, but rather those that have to do with the content. And The Last of Us Remastered Part II will include a new game mode called “No Return”, a mode in which players must survive in levels that will be generated randomly and will be packed with enemies.

The possibility of visiting three discarded levels will also be a very interesting addition, as well as the possibility of listening to the developers' audio commentary during the adventure cinematics. All this without taking into account the greatest curiosity of this new version, a musical mode called "Guitar Free Play", which will allow us to perform music with various instruments and score some guitar solos with Joel.

Those who have the original title for PlayStation 4 will be able to purchase The Last of Us Remastered Part II in the form of a downloadable update for an approximate price of 10 euros. Likewise, the game will also be on sale independently, although Sony has not yet revealed what its price will be.
