Four claims from the Smart City Expo to imagine the future of cities

The appointment with the future of cities is once again in Barcelona. From today until next Thursday, Fira de Barcelona – Gran Vía, hosts the Smart City Expo, the event that defines what large cities will be like in a few decades. A date with innovation, technology and - increasingly - with commitment to the environment. A fair that opens its doors to show the world the multiple solutions that startups and companies from all economic sectors will prepare to face the coming challenges.

Ugo Valenti, director of the show, advances that in this year's edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress (which, by the way, becomes the largest in its history) Artificial Intelligence plays a very prominent role. “Until now we were able to collect a lot of information, but we did not know how to manage it very well to make decisions; but thanks to AI we will be able to make sense of them and make those decisions more correctly,” comments the CEO.

Among the more than a thousand stands that can be seen at the fair we find a high volume of companies from Catalonia and the rest of Spain. “Participating in the Smart City Expo is a very good way to export our creativity and talent to the world,” adds Valenti, alluding to the excellent platform that this event represents, in which more than 140 countries participate.

At this world congress, visitors will not lose sight of the most visual modernity at the hands of robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, 3D printers or virtual reality glasses to imagine what their urban environment will be like in a few years.
