Amazon unveils a $60 Tablet

Amazon's cheapest tablet has gone a bit more expensive, but it promises a longer life.

Amazon announced Wednesday that the latest Fire 7 and Fire 7 Kids versions are now available for preorders ahead of a June 29 shipping deadline.

The 7-inch Alexa-enabled Fire 7 costs ten dollars more than previous-generation tablets. It is available in black, rose, and denim colors. Coordinating covers cost $28.99 each. Fire 7 Kids tablet costs $109.99 and comes with a child-proof case in purple, red, and blue.

Amazon stated that both offer twice the RAM and 40% more battery life, allowing for continuous use up to 10 hours.

Amazon's tablets are a cheaper alternative to Apple's iPad. They start at $329, and can go up to $1,000 for the top-end models.

Fire 7 Kids includes a year's Amazon Kids+ subscription, which gives them access to thousands, including movies, TV shows, educational apps, and games. Amazon Prime members can subscribe for $2.99 per month and a $69 family plan.
