Chesny Young hit a two-run single with two out in the seventh inning but took a called third strike from Juan Minaya with the winning run at third in the bottom of the ninth inning as the White Sox and Cubs played to a 4-4 tie Monday at Sloan Park.

   At the plate: White Sox slugger Jose Abreu hit a two-run home run during a three-run fifth. The Cubs’ Addison Russell hit a home run in the first inning off prospect Lucas Giolito that landed on the concourse behind the left field berm.

   On the mound:  Giolito struck out Miguel Montero and Contreras in succession in the second. Seth Frankoff, who is expected to start for Triple-A Iowa, pitched two scoreless innings for the Cubs.

   In the field: Sox second baseman Yoan Moncada made a diving stop of Rizzo’s grounder in the first. Schwarber made a routine catch of a drive by Matt Davidson to end the fifth.

   Key number: 15 – Players from Cubs and White Sox participating in World Baseball Classic.
