Two days before arriving in Paris, the 2023 Tour de France faces the penultimate day of transition, in the vicinity of the Jura that will give the final touch to the general classification, with a stage that offers terrain for breakaways, but that can also end the sprint of the peloton.
On stage 19, the cyclists will cover the 172.8 kilometers between Moirans-en-Montagne and Poligny. The stage is more abrupt and controlling the situation will not be as easy as the day before. A truce is expected in the battle for the general classification, very well on track in first place for the Danish Jonas Vingegaard, who has an income of 7.35 minutes with respect to the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
More exciting is the fight for third place, occupied by the British Adam Yates, with an income of 1.16 compared to the Spanish Carlos Rodríguez and 1.34 with his brother Simon. It seems that the options of the Andalusian go through the day on Saturday, in the last mountain stage before reaching the French capital.
The gala round continues with the hangover of what happened at the Col de la Loze, when Vingegaard left the Tour de France on track by extending his lead by 7.35 minutes compared to Pogacar. The Slovenian admits that it is not an easy moment, but appreciates all the expressions of affection he is receiving: "It is true that I was very affected, but everyone in the peloton has encouraged me. It has been good to have a slightly calmer day," said the UAE cyclist.
In stage 19 of the 2023 Tour de France, in the middle of the mountains, the penultimate day before reaching the Champs-Élysées in Paris, the cyclists will travel the 172.8 kilometers between Moirans-en-Montagne and Poligny.
