The Circuit de Monaco is preparing this weekend to host the Formula 1 Monaco GP, after the suspension of the last World Cup event in Emilia-Romagna, due to the heavy rains and floods that shook this Italian region, with a balance provisional figure of 14 dead, several missing and thousands of evacuees.
The pilots will compete in one of the most iconic circuits in the world championship and where it was first raced in 1950. It is an incredibly narrow circuit. In fact, in the 2003 race there was no overtaking on its streets. Something anomalous in the rest of GP.
In total, the pilots will have to travel 260,286 kilometers in 78 laps. The fastest lap record in Monaco is held by British driver Lewis Hamilton (2021), in just 1:12.909.
The Spaniards are not doing badly in the first free practice. In the first session, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) set the best times on the track.
The Spaniard arrives in Monaco with a clear idea, to achieve his 32nd victory. "We have the same opportunities as in other circuits. We are not thinking of being the strongest, but if I tell you that I do not come with the idea of winning, I would be lying. I will attack more than in another weekend," he said at the FIA press conference prior to the GP, which he won in 2006 and 2007.
The drivers will look for the best time in the Monaco Formula 1 GP qualifying, which will take place this Saturday, May 27, starting at 4:00 p.m. It can be seen live on television on DAZN and can also be followed through the La Vanguardia website.
