Espanyol already has a substitute in the midfield for Sergi Darder. The chosen one was Alvaro Aguado and finally, after several weeks of negotiations, the parakeet club has made official what was already an open secret. The player, free after leaving Valladolid last season, will sign for two seasons with the parakeet team.
With the arrival of Aguado, one of the few problems that the Espanyol squad seemed to have is solved. The departure of Sergi Darder left the position of midfielder somewhat uncovered. Despite the presence of Pol Lozano, Keidi Bare, Edu Expósito and Gragera, a more creative profile was missed, which Aguado does have.
During the market there was speculation about his arrival. After the market closed, Fran Garagarza, Espanyol's sports director, did not want to consider the squad closed while waiting for what could happen with this player. Aguado trained in the Real Jaén youth academy and subsequently went through the youth football ranks of Villarreal and Levante before making his debut for Ontinyent. He later returned to Jaén and from there he made the jump to Córdoba. His good seasons in the Córdoba team allowed him to sign for Valladolid.
