Ancelotti, denounced before the Prosecutor's Office by Valencia shareholders after his accusation of racism

The words of Carlo Ancelotti after the match between Valencia and Real Madrid, in which he accused the entire stadium of having uttered racist shouts against Vinícius, deeply upset Valencian fans. For this reason, the Association of Small Shareholders of Valencia CF ((APAVCF)) has denounced the Italian before the Prosecutor's Office for an "illegal criminal offense of libel and slander". This Thursday they filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office "in defense of the shareholders, season ticket holders and fans of Valencia CF" for "the statements he made at the end of the match."

In the complaint, the small shareholders explain that Ancelotti "treated an entire stadium with 46,002 spectators as racists, after what happened with the player Vinícius, before the media present in the Mestalla Press Room." According to them, the Real Madrid coach "transmitted some false accusations, possibly intentionally, and as a consequence of them, Valencia CF has seen his image, as well as that of his fans and shareholders, harmed."

The main complaint of these fans lies in "the power of diffusion that these words have as the coach of Real Madrid, they have also damaged the image of the Valencian Community by associating it with generalized racism." The shareholders also warn that they are considering extending their measures and "filing a lawsuit for libel against Mr. Ancelotti."

The association asks the Prosecutor's Office to carry out the "pertinent investigation" and to file "the pertinent complaint on behalf of the aggrieved", but in its statement, it also leaves open the option of filing a complaint for injuries against the technician.

The complaint literally includes some of the expressions that the coach used in the press room at Mestalla on June 21, such as "the atmosphere is racist", "the whole stadium has yelled at him monkey, monkey, monkey", " I was not a person who has gone crazy, here a stadium has gone crazy” or “I have never seen an entire stadium make racist insults”.

During the post-match press conference, a journalist pointed out that Mestalla did not call Vinicius "monkey", but rather that they had called him "stupid". The Italian coach clarified that the referee had stopped the game because an anti-racism protocol had been activated.

However, the Real Madrid coach did qualify his words two days later by assuring that he was not referring to "46,000 people, just a group that has behaved very badly". "There weren't 46,000 and I apologize if that was understood, but there weren't two or three either," he said.

“It is a custom, leaving aside racism, which is the most serious, it seems customary to insult. I agree with Xavi, why is there the habit of insulting in football? They asked me at a press conference after the game that they didn't call him "monkey", that they called him "stupid". Why do you have to call a person stupid? It's not a racial slur but it is an insult. He has to stop this. We are tired of being insulted every day. It happens to Xavi, Vinicius... behind the benches everything happens. They call you "son of a bitch", "faggot", let your father or mother die. Because? It is not a war. It's a sport," he mused.
