Carlos Alcaraz will face the Italian Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the Masters 1000 in Miami, after beating Taylor Fritz very forcefully this Thursday in two sets 6-4, 6-2, in one hour and 17 minutes. The duel from a few weeks ago at the Masters 1000 Indian Wells will be reissued, which ended with a victory for the Murcian.
The Spanish tennis player, who defends number one in the ATP ranking, is clear that he will need his best level to be in the final. "Maybe it was my best game of the tournament so far, although I think I'm playing well every game. I feel comfortable on court in every game, so I'm very happy," Alcaraz said at the post-match press conference against Fritz.
The Murcian, current Miami champion and recent winner of Indian Wells, highlighted his good relationship with Sinner, a rival he already beat two weeks ago in the Californian desert on his way to the title.
"We have a good relationship off the track, we talk, sometimes we train together as well. He's a good boy, I think it's also important that we are good people. And of course, we share good moments off the track," he said.
"Sinner is a great rival and I have to play at the same level, or even better to get through to the semifinals," summed up the Murcian, who is recovering his best level after the injury. Alcaraz is 18-1 this year, with the only loss coming in the final in Rio de Janeiro against Britain's Cameron Norrie, when he suffered an injury.
In the other semifinal, the Russian Daniil Medvedev defeated the American Christopher Eubanks and qualified for the semifinals of the Masters 1,000 in Miami, in which he awaits the winner of the match between the Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo and the Russian Karen Khachanov.
The match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the Miami Master 1000 will take place from Friday, March 31 to Saturday, April 1, not before 1:00 in the morning. The clash can be seen on television on Movistar and can also be followed live on the La Vanguardia website.
