The meteorological truce that Catalonia is experiencing after a Sunday of heavy rain will come to an end very soon. Last weekend the autonomous community came to activate the Inuncat emergency plan due to the intensity of the rainfall in several of its regions, giving way to a second week of May that seemed to be drier.
However, the forecasts of the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Meteocat) indicate a change in weather on the afternoon of this Tuesday, May 9, so we will be accompanied by rainfall until the weekend, thus breaking the drought that has characterized our country in recent months.
According to the meteorological portals, the cloudiness will increase notably on Tuesday afternoon, being accompanied by the first showers. Some of them will come with a storm, mainly affecting various regions of northern Catalonia.
This phenomenon will continue on Wednesday in more regions of the community, reaching the surroundings of the Barcelona area. Meteocat has indicated that the amounts of accumulated water will progressively increase, being especially relevant in the eastern Pre-Pyrenees.
Thursday will be quite similar to Wednesday, so there will be precipitation that will not stop during the day. Likewise, medium-term forecasts indicate that Friday will be the last day of this expected episode of rain in the community, also being the most intense day of the week.
Finally, the temperatures will drop from Wednesday below the usual records in the month of May, providing the Catalans with a somewhat cooler and more pleasant environment for several days.
