The Aemet warns that the San Martín summer will last throughout the weekend

The stable and dry weather of the San Martín summer will continue for the next few days, including the weekend, when the record for warm days could be surpassed, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

"If the forecasts are met, by November 19 there will already be 37 records for warm days: one in every nine days will have broken its record this year, while we will not have any cold days. In an unchanged climate, five records would be expected annual of cold and five of heat," explains the agency in a Twitter thread.

Temperatures will continue to be abnormal for the time of year. In fact, Aemet recalls that the records of these days are "typical of mid-spring (beginning of May) or the beginning of autumn (beginning of October)."

While waiting to compile the data for this weekend, November 11, 12, 13 and 14 have been the warmest for those dates since 1950. They have exceeded 32 degrees in points in southern Andalusia and in the Canary Islands. In addition, a dozen communities have exceeded a maximum of 20 degrees for several consecutive days.

For this Friday, Aemet expects anticyclonic weather to continue in most of the country, with a predominance of slightly cloudy skies or with intervals of high clouds. The exception will be in the northeast of Catalonia with cloudy skies and occasional showers, although it is not ruled out that they will also affect the north of the Balearic Islands, where there will be greater cloudiness.

Likewise, the day will begin with abundant low morning cloudiness in large areas of the Peninsula, except for the southern third and a good part of the eastern third, with possible morning mists or fogs, more likely in the interior of Galicia and both plateaus.

Minimum temperatures will drop this Friday in most of the country, more markedly in the northern half, areas of the southeast and southwest of the peninsula where they will increase. The maximums will drop in the Canary Islands, the north of the Balearic Islands and a good part of the northeastern half of the peninsula, reaching notable levels in the northeast of Catalonia.

However, thermometers will recover starting Saturday in almost the entire peninsular territory, even notably in the Pyrenees and eastern Cantabrian Sea. The minimum temperatures will also increase in Galicia and the Pyrenees.

For next week, the agency expects a sharp drop in temperatures in almost the entire country. "From these very mild records we will move on to a winter environment next week," he anticipates on his X account, formerly Twitter.
