The Aemet warns of what is coming: wind, waves, rain and a fluctuation in temperatures

Time will continue to be marked by instability. Twelve communities remain on alert this Thursday due to strong gusts of wind, waves and rain, with special incidence in the Galician community, where there is an orange warning due to rainfall that will accumulate up to 80 liters per square meter in 12 hours, according to the forecast of the State Agency of Meteorology (Aemet).

For this Thursday, precipitation is expected to extend from the northwest to the southeast, without reaching the Mediterranean area. They will be locally strong and persistent in areas of the northwest of the peninsula (especially in Galicia), the Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees.

Galicia will be one of the communities most affected by this new Atlantic front. Pontevedra has an orange alert (significant risk) for rains of up to 80 liters in 12 hours, especially in the southern part of the province. A Coruña also remains at orange level due to waves between 5 and 6 meters and combined sea from the northwest. The rest of the community remains on yellow alert for rain, wind or waves.

In the northern half of the peninsula, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, the Basque Country and La Rioja have a yellow warning (risk) for rain of up to 40 liters per square meter in 12 hours or for strong gusts of wind that will range between 70/80 kilometers per hour.

Precipitation will be weaker and more dispersed the further east and south. They will tend to subside except in Galicia, the eastern Pyrenees, the wider Penibético area and the Strait. The rains will not reach the Mediterranean area, where slightly cloudy skies are expected, increasing cloudiness at the end of the day.

In many coastal communities, the alert has been activated due to rough seas: Andalusia, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia, Galicia, the Basque Country and the north of the Valencian Community.

Temperatures will increase in the Mediterranean area, they will decrease in the northwest and there will be no major changes in the rest, according to the Aemet forecast. There will be scattered weak frosts in the Pyrenees.

In this fluctuating temperature, it is expected that this Friday the thermometers will drop almost universally, especially the maximum temperatures. On the other hand, on Saturday they will recover again in a good part of the Peninsula, although they will decrease slightly in the southeast and the Balearic Islands.
