The Aemet warns of the arrival of Aline, the first major impact storm of the season

This Wednesday will be marked by instability, cloudy skies and precipitation pending the arrival of another one in front of the peninsula, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The storm Babet is responsible, the first to affect our country this week. Afterwards, the arrival of Aline, the first major storm of the season, is expected.

For this Wednesday, the influence of Babet is expected to continue, although it will move towards the north, it will continue to affect this day and the next. Precipitation will be more intense in the Pyrenean environment and especially in the south of the western Central system, the Cantabrian mountain range and Galicia, and may become locally strong or persistent at first.

Babet will have company. At the last minute, the entry of a new front will reactivate rainfall in the extreme northwest, occurring more intensely and abundantly than the rest of the day and being accompanied by a storm.

The drop in temperatures will not yet be noticeable throughout the country. The minimums will rise in the eastern Mediterranean area and in the Ebro valley and will fall in the rest. Maximum temperatures will also increase in the Levant, except in the Ebro and western Andalusia and Extremadura where few changes are expected.

For this Wednesday, the Aemet has activated the yellow alert in up to six communities (Catalonia, Aragon, Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia and Navarra) due to intense wind from the west and southwest, strong, with very strong gusts on the coasts of Galicia and the southeast of the peninsula. . These gusts are also expected in the rest of Galicia and other inland areas of the extreme north.

On Thursday, Babet will leave and Aline will arrive, a "small, but deep, storm that will cause a storm of intense winds, rain and rough seas that will affect a good part of the peninsula." It would be the first major impact of the season, the agency warns.

That day it is likely that the rains will be strong and persistent in large areas of the southwestern half of the peninsula and the Pyrenees, in the south and west of Galicia and in the west of the Central system. On the contrary, they will be less abundant in the Cantabrian Sea and in the extreme east of the peninsula. They could occur in the form of snow on the peaks of the Pyrenees.

Temperatures will drop generally and sharply on Thursday, except in the Canary Islands where maximum temperatures will increase.
