The Aemet warns of risk due to strong wind and waves in Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea and the Mediterranean

The storm 'Aline' will leave the Peninsula this Saturday and the day will be less rainy than the previous ones, in a kind of truce until a new storm arrives from the southwest on Sunday, although the risk of significant coastal phenomena will continue to be important on the coasts from Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea, the Balearic Islands and some parts of the Mediterranean.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated the warning for significant risk (orange) due to combined northwesterly seas of 6 to 7 meters in Pontevedra, La Coruña, Lugo, Asturias, Cantabria, Vizcaya and Guipúzcoa and winds of force 7, 50 to 61 kilometers per hour.

They will also have a yellow warning for force 7 winds and waves of 4 to 5 meters in the Ebro Delta in Tarragona, the Balearic Islands and Almería.

The spokesperson for the AEMET, Rubén del Campo, has indicated that this Saturday will be "a truce" until a new round of Atlantic storms arrive on Sunday that will leave rain in the following days in a good part of the territory, especially in the western half. while the Mediterranean and the Balearic Islands will be a little more on the sidelines.

In general, cloudy skies will predominate this Saturday in Galicia and in the northeastern half of Catalonia, although precipitation will decrease throughout the day.

In the rest of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, cloudy intervals will predominate in general, but the AEMET does not rule out some weak and scattered precipitation at first in the western third and in the Balearic Islands. In the Canary Islands there will also be cloudy intervals and the cloudiness will increase in the west, where some rains could occur that even in the westernmost islands may be moderate in nature.

Morning mists, fogs or low strata will also form in the surroundings of mountain areas in the north, center and southeast of the peninsula. Snow will appear from 1,600 meters to 2,000 meters in the northwest quadrant; from 1,600-1,800 in the northeast quadrant and from 2,000 meters in the rest of the areas.

Regarding temperatures, the AEMET predicts that night temperatures will generally decrease and that light frosts will occur in the Pyrenees and, separately, in other mountains in the north, center and southeast. The atmosphere will be cooler early in the day and there will be light frosts in mountain areas and in some inland cities the minimum temperatures will remain at around 5ºC.

For its part, daytime temperatures will rise slightly in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, they will decrease in the Mediterranean area and the Canary Islands, while no significant changes are expected in the rest of the territory. During the central hours of the day, 20 degrees Celsius will not be reached except in the coastal areas and the southern third, so the autumn atmosphere will be guaranteed on Saturday.

Finally, the winds will blow from the west in most of the country and strong intervals will predominate at first in the Cantabrian Sea, although their intensity will tend to decrease. In Alborán and Estrecho, a moderate wind will blow from the west that will shift to the east throughout the day.
