The Aemet warns of heavy rainfall in some areas before the arrival of the DANA

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) maintains the yellow warning only in Catalonia this Thursday due to precipitation, which will be somewhat weaker in Galicia, Cantabria, Levante and the southeast of the peninsula. A stable situation in almost the entire country before the arrival of an isolated depression at high levels (DANA), which will have a "notable impact".

For this Thursday, the agency forecasts cloudy intervals at first in eastern Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, with the possibility of some showers or storms, especially on the Catalan coast, where they could be locally strong. The rain will subside throughout the day.

For the afternoon, a generally weak shower or storm is not ruled out in the interior of Levante and the southeast of the peninsula. In Galicia and Cantabria, cloudy intervals, with the possibility of some light rain in the north of Galicia and Asturias.

The temperatures will remain stable, with rising maximums in the central zone and northern half of the peninsula. They will go downhill in southern Andalusia and with few changes in the rest, as well as in the minimum.

The wind will blow from the north on the west coast of Galicia and from the east in the southern half of the Mediterranean area, with a moderate Levante in the Strait.

For the weekend, a noticeable change in weather is expected. "As of Friday, a new time change will take place in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with the arrival of an Atlantic trough that, during Saturday, will be isolated from the general circulation, forming a DANA centered in the west of the peninsula", anticipates the Aemet in an informative note.

As a consequence, during the weekend it is probable that there will be persistent and widespread precipitation, locally accompanied by storms, in practically the entire territory with the exception of the Canary Islands, which is left out of this situation.

However, the agency continues, there is still high uncertainty about the areas where the most abundant rainfall occurs. During the day on Saturday, it would focus more on the west of the peninsula. On Sunday, the greatest instability could move to areas of the Mediterranean.
