The Aemet warns of another week with unusually high temperatures for the season

The week starts with temperatures above normal for the time of year, with values that could touch or exceed 30 degrees in many areas of the country. They will be especially high in the Galician area of Rías Bajas, northeastern Catalonia and eastern Balearic Islands, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). And a decrease will be recorded in the Cantabrian Sea.

They will be above 30 degrees in Badajoz, Cáceres, Ciudad Real, Córdoba, Cuenca, Girona, Huelva, Guadalajara, Granada, Lugo, Logroño, Lleida, Ourense, Oviedo, Palencia, Pontevedra and Salamanca, among other provincial capitals.

Regarding the state of the sky, stable weather with slightly cloudy or clear skies will continue to prevail in most of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Only some intervals of low morning clouds are expected on the coasts of Galicia and Cantabria, the Mediterranean area and the interior of the southeast of the peninsula.

It will still not rain. According to the agency's forecast, some weak and scattered rain is not ruled out in the Strait area. In any case, an insignificant precipitation.

Regarding the wind, it will blow from the east in the southeastern third of the peninsula and the Canary Islands, with strong easterly intervals in the Strait. Loose and variable in the rest.

The Aemet does not foresee major changes for the rest of the week. In most of the country, stable weather will prevail with slightly cloudy or clear skies and high temperatures for the season will continue.

Starting on Wednesday, an Atlantic front is expected to approach the extreme northwest of the peninsula at the end of the day with a consequent increase in cloud cover, mainly high, during the last hours of the day.

However, temperatures will continue to be high for today in the east of the peninsula, the Cantabrian Sea, the Balearic Islands and especially in the Canary Islands, where they could reach 33-35 degrees.

Although with a margin of uncertainty, temperatures could begin to drop from the weekend, when it is expected that during this period the Peninsula will be under the influence of low Atlantic pressures that will leave a predominance of cloudy or overcast skies and precipitation. Thermometers will drop sharply, Aemet anticipates.
