The AEMET specifies how long the San Miguel summer will last before the rains return

The San Miguel summer has manifested itself strongly in the Peninsula, bringing summer temperatures and clear skies that will last for at least 10 more days, according to a statement from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

This warm period breaks with the previous arrival of DANA and the Atlantic fronts that had introduced rain and unstable weather. The high temperatures and exceptional meteorological conditions have motivated a last-minute warning from the AEMET and the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF), which points to an end of the week - and of the month - with "record warm values over the peninsula".

It is striking that this summer is coming forward, or rather, it has already come forward in some parts of the country. Last Sunday, September 24, some locations recorded temperatures close to 30 degrees, a phenomenon more commonly associated with the beginning of spring or summer than the beginning of autumn. In the Balearic Islands, as in much of the Peninsula, high pressure is expected to keep the skies clear or slightly cloudy. Galicia could be the exception with weak rainfall, especially during the afternoon.

On the Mediterranean coast, where full beaches have been observed in the Valencian Community, temperatures will continue to rise. However, slight decreases could be recorded in Andalusia, Menorca and the Canary Islands. In the rest of the national territory, minimum temperatures will follow an upward trend with the only exception of the Cantabrian Sea, where temperatures will remain more stable.

It should be remembered that previously, the AEMET had issued a detailed forecast, warning of the arrival of multiple Atlantic fronts that would impact the country starting on Monday, September 25.

This forecast has been practically cancelled, in view of the new meteorological conditions that mark an important change of course in the meteorological situation of the Peninsula.
