The Aemet sets a date for the end of the San Martín summer and announces a drastic change in the weather

The summer known as San Martín will once again leave unusually high temperatures today, with maximums between 20 and 30 degrees in large areas of Spain. This Wednesday, temperatures will exceed 20 degrees in a dozen provinces such as Valencia, Seville, Málaga, Jaén or Granada. In some, they will be close to 30, such as Murcia or Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), "more than a classic autumn summer, it is an unusual warm episode for the time of year." In fact, it is expected that the air mass that will fly over our country will be one of the warmest in mid-November in at least the last 30 years.

The exception will once again be in the north of the peninsula, where a front will sweep the extreme north, leaving cloudy or overcast skies and probable weak rainfall in Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea and surrounding areas to the south, without ruling out the western Pyrenees. The rains will cease throughout the day while clearings will open.

In addition, it is expected that a new, more active front will penetrate through the northwest in the second half of the day, increasing the cloudiness again and leaving more intense and abundant rainfall in Galicia, without ruling out that it will become persistent in the west of this community or that it will reach others. points of the northwest third at the end of the day.

The stable weather will last throughout the weekend, when unusually high temperatures will be recorded again for the time of year, especially in areas of the Mediterranean area. However, in Galicia and the Cantabrian area, cloudy skies are expected, with probable weak rainfall in the northwest of this community.

The situation will change starting Monday. According to the Aemet forecast, although still with some uncertainty, temperatures will drop significantly in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with the exception of the Costa del Sol, where there will be increases. The declines will be notable in the mountainous areas of the northern half, which will also suffer frost.
