The AEMET on alert: the worst anomaly is already a reality and promises to persist

Nine autonomous communities will be at risk this Tuesday due to rains that could leave 15 to 20 liters per square meter in one hour and due to storms, some of which will be accompanied by hail, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

The agency has activated the yellow warning in Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla - La Mancha, Catalonia, Navarra, the Basque Country, La Rioja, the Valencian Community and Aragon due to heavy rains. In these last two, the warning will turn orange in the middle hours of the day.

In Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, cloudy skies are expected with rain and showers, more abundant and accompanied by storms in the eastern part. Evolutionary cloudiness will develop in much of the interior, with the possibility of showers and occasional storms in the northern half and eastern third, especially in the mountains, without ruling out the Balearic Islands.

These rains may be more intense and abundant in the northeastern third and locally strong in the eastern Cantabrian, upper Ebro, Pyrenees, Iberia, other areas of Catalonia and the Levant, without ruling out surrounding areas of Castilla-La Mancha. In the Canary Islands, weak rainfall in the north is not ruled out either.

Regarding temperatures, the Aemet predicts that the minimum temperatures will decrease in the northern third and middle regions of the Canary Islands. On the contrary, the maximums will decrease in the northeastern third of the peninsula, will rise in the west and will remain without major changes in the rest.

We have ahead of us a week with temperatures above normal in the northern and eastern thirds of the Peninsula, as well as in the Canary Islands, according to the Aemet forecast. They will suffer ups and downs over the next few days, but they will be values typical for the time of year, somewhat higher in points of the northern and eastern thirds and the archipelagos, and a little lower than usual in areas of the interior of the country.

It is also going to be a rainy week in most of the peninsular territory, with locally strong showers and storms, which will affect almost the entire country.

In the first half of the week, they will affect the north and east of the peninsula. During the second half of the week, the rains could be intense in the Mediterranean area and, starting on Friday, spread to most of the territory.
