The Aemet confirms when the summer heat ends and the arrival of rain in Spain

The current summer episode in October, which has left temperatures of up to 38 degrees in some areas of Andalusia, will last until the beginning of the Pilar bridge, when the rain will return thanks to an Atlantic front that will cover the sky with northwest clouds. southeast of the peninsula, although the rains are not expected to reach the Mediterranean area.

According to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), facing the weekend, with the arrival of cooler Atlantic air, "temperatures will decrease clearly and will be more in line with the time of year in the northern half" , although "they will still be higher than normal in the Mediterranean area and in the south."

In addition to this drop in temperatures, the passage of a front and the subsequent arrival of low pressures would leave rain on Friday in Galicia and later in other areas of the peninsula, including also in the Balearic Islands, details the agency's spokesperson, Rubén del Campo.

For now and until Columbus Day, few changes are expected. For this Tuesday, stable weather with slightly cloudy or clear skies will continue to prevail in most of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.

Temperatures will continue without changes or with a slight decrease in the Peninsula. 30 degrees will be reached in Bilbao, Badajoz, Cáceres, Córdoba, Girona, Granda, Huelva, Lleida, Lugo, Murcia, Ourense and Oviedo, among other provincial capitals.

Spain says goodbye (finally) to the summer heat in autumn. According to Aemet, our country has set ten consecutive records for warm days, specifically, between September 29 and October 8. That means each of those days has been the hottest for that exact date since at least 1950.

“This situation of very high temperatures for the time of year, accompanied, in addition, by almost total absence of rain, will continue without major changes at least until Friday of this week, with records between 5 and 10 degrees above normal. normal in the middle hours of the day,” continues the spokesperson.

We are increasingly suffering higher temperatures. So far in 2023, a total of thirty records for warm days have been recorded and no records for cold days. Therefore, "this year the record number of warm days expected for the entire year has multiplied by six."
