The Aemet announces a drop in temperatures and intense rains in these areas of Spain

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts a Friday with water and falling temperatures. Locally heavy or persistent rains are expected in Galicia, which could be accompanied by storms occasionally on coastlines. In a weaker, dispersed and occasional form, they can spread to other areas of the northwest half.

The Atlantic front will continue its passage through the Mediterranean area, leaving cloudiness and morning showers in Ampurdán, Penibético and Estrecho, tending to subside and become clear. Cloudiness will increase in the northwest, with precipitation in Galicia and surrounding areas, the eastern end of the Cantabrian Sea, the western Pyrenees and the west of the Central system.

The snow level will be around 1,800/2,000 meters in the western Cantabrian region and 2,000/2,200 meters in the Pyrenees, although with little quantity and probability and there will likely be morning fog banks in the peninsular mountains.

Thermometers will go down. According to the Aemet forecast, temperatures will tend to drop almost across the board, with maximum temperatures markedly in much of the Peninsula. Only weak frosts are expected in the Pyrenees.

In many provinces, the maximum will not exceed 20 degrees. This will be the case of Cuenca, Burgos, Ávila, León, Lugo or Palencia, where thermometers will not exceed 14 degrees. More pleasant atmosphere in provinces in the southeast of the peninsula, with temperatures that will exceed 25 degrees in Murcia, Alicante or Malaga.

The humid winds coming from the Atlantic will persist over the weekend, leaving rain on Saturday, especially in Galicia, Asturias, western Castilla y León and northern Extremadura, and on Sunday a new front will reach the peninsula and the rains will affect the west of the territory.

During both days, the most abundant rainfall will be recorded in the west of Galicia, and on the contrary, in the Mediterranean area, slightly cloudy skies will predominate, with temperatures without major changes or with a slight rise. In general, according to Aemet, there will be an atmosphere typical for this time of year, somewhat warmer in the Mediterranean area, where temperatures may exceed 25 degrees.
