Trias sees himself in opposition, but extends his hand to Collboni

Xavier Trias doesn't have to wait for Jaume Collboni to complete a hundred days as mayor - there's half a month left - to make it clear that he doesn't like what he's doing. According to the winner of the last municipal elections, the socialist government, which he sees as "weak", is not making the city work - security and cleanliness are going badly, in his opinion - and the mayor seems more inclined to agree with the predecessor in office and ex-partner Ada Colau who with him. That is why, at least now, he is seen in the opposition, despite the fact that he remains open to collaborating with the PSC so that "Barcelona moves forward".

"Mr. Collboni, I see him very interested in reaching agreements with Mrs. Colau, and this puts us in opposition", stated the president of the Trias per Barcelona group, who assured that the mayor has not called him to talk about a possible governance pact, about his entry into the executive nor about the budgets. Despite this, he keeps his hand extended: "We are open to all approaches, they will find us to do good things for Barcelona". In this sense, he urged the council to "make a decision: how it wants to govern this city".

Regarding the accounts for 2024, Trias said that he does not intend to prevent them from being approved. Not even close. "We will play on the fact that the city has good budgets, but first we need to see what situation we have", he specified.

If Junts supports the investiture of Pedro Sánchez, there should be no change of cards at the City Council, according to Trias. "We will not enter into a negotiation of chairs - he stated - it is a matter of concepts".

Trias defended the pact he signed with ERC after the elections to gain access to the city government. "For our part, it remains valid - he said -; I urge Esquerra to collaborate from the opposition to push it forward and be able to make proposals to make the city work".
