Trias assures that he has free hands to agree

Xavier Trias guaranteed yesterday that he will have a free hand to reach agreements in Barcelona after the May 28 elections and that there will be no corset imposed by Junts per Catalunya to limit the movements. Although the local assembly of JxCat approved in a meeting before the start of the campaign that it would pronounce on any pact, the candidate emphasized the fact that he presents himself with the brand Trias per Barcelona, which receives the support of Junts, PDECat, Democrats of Catalonia and Moviment d'Esquerres.

"I have the guarantee that the person making the pact is Trias per Barcelona. This candidacy is not only endorsed by the people of Junts", pointed out in a press conference organized by the Efe agency, the former mayor, who reiterated that, "although everyone has their perceptions, in the end it decides who is in charge these elections".

In any case, when he was asked about the subsequent agreements he can reach, Trias limited himself to affirming that he will not make "strange agreements" or "antithetical sums", and assured that he will in no case make an agreement with Ada Colau, a something that her opponents do not say with the same resoluteness, although they all try to postulate as an alternative to the mayoress. "I will never make a second mayor on the basis of strange agreements", he promised. "The problem is not the pacts, it's the strange pacts", added the post-convergent candidate, who admitted that "depending on which pacts can make sense".

In addition, Trias outlined two ways to get to the mayor's office: be the most voted candidate and get along with other forces, or let everyone vote for themselves and he can be mayor if he wins. "It is the mayor who adds 21 councilors, but it is also the mayor who wins the election if no one adds 21", he detailed. "What people must be clear about is that I act with the will to understand myself and look for stable collaborations", he added later. In the afternoon, at a meeting in the neighborhood of Sant Martí, Trias' candidacy called for the "useful vote" once again to bring about "change" in Barcelona and try to unite all those who want an alternative for the municipal government.
