The Consell is already working on linguistic criteria to use "a Valencian closer to the current one"

The Department of Education and Universities is already working on the development of linguistic criteria for Valencian "closer to current Valencian." Sources from the department headed by José Antonio Rovira explained to this newspaper that they intend to introduce some changes in communications between the Administration and citizens "so that Valencians feel represented with voices that are their own in their natural way of expressing themselves." Of course, the same sources emphasize, "continuing with the established regulatory framework."

It must be remembered that one of the Departments led by Vox even used the Valencian language of the Puig Standards on social networks, although it finally deleted the publication. Now he already uses normative Valencian.

The Department of Education explains to La Vanguardia that the criteria they are working on aim to "be clear and understandable for the recipients of the messages, while at the same time adjusted to administrative communications." In fact, some of them were already applied in the speech on the occasion of October 9 by the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, as announced by the deputy director of Linguistic Policy of the Generalitat Valenciana, Vicent Satores, in La 8 Mediterranean.

There is still no date or formula to introduce these criteria in the use of Valencian by the Administration. What does exist is a list with some of the modifications that they want to implement.

Perhaps the most controversial is the use of the neutral article lo (lo poble) "as legitimate in administrative communications of an oral nature or in non-formal writings such as party books." In fact, other alternative forms are recommended in formal writings. Education points out the need to always take the context into account.

Likewise, among the criteria it is made explicit that the suffix -iste is considered acceptable in words such as artiste, journaliste or taxiste and not only the invariable suffix -ista.

It is also recommended to use the simple demonstratives este/a/os/es instead of this/a/os/es and inchoative verbs with the form -ix and no -eix (partix instead of parteix).

Likewise, they point out that verb forms such as afigc or vullc can be admitted instead of afig or vull from the verbs adder (add) and voler (want).

Regarding lexical preferences, the same sources add, both in oral and written communications, "it is recommended to look for the form closest to the one administered within the framework established by linguistic regulations" and use forms such as grab, faena or proxim.

The department chaired by Rovira insists that these criteria try to be a reference for clear, plain language "close to Valencians" and "coherent with the way citizens communicate", respecting current regulatory criteria.
