The Community of Madrid has extended the payment of the rent of the houses to the families of San Fernando de Henares affected by the works of line 7B of the Metro. The Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, conveyed this agreement to the president of the Rafael Alberti-Presa Neighborhood Association, Juan Fuentes, during the meeting held at the Ministry's headquarters.

According to the data provided by the residents, according to the City Council census there would be 650 homes affected by the Metro, of which 41 have been demolished, 14 have declared a ruin order, 32 more are under study, and there are 39 parking spaces and 5 demolished commercial premises.

Rodrigo has dedicated his first official activity after taking office to meet with this representation of the residents of this municipality, stressing that "the regional government is not going to spare any type of resource to try to solve this situation as soon as possible".

"Our commitment is firm with all of them," said Rodrigo, while pledging to "continue helping" the residents "by opening a fast channel of communication and paying all rental aid until the compensation files are resolved."

The counselor also indicated that these families "are a priority for the regional Executive". Thus, he advanced that "the most agile and satisfactory solution will continue to be thought of, taking into account the personal circumstances in each case."

For his part, the neighborhood representative told EFE that they leave "with a very good taste in their mouths after this cordial and affable meeting in which they have listened to us at all times."

The meeting has served for political leaders to learn first-hand about the needs and concerns of the residents of San Fernando affected by Metro line 7B.

"We have told him that the most urgent thing is to resolve the patrimonial responsibility files of the 22 families that still have no solution, but we have also demanded that he inform us about what will happen with the emergency order for the residents of Alberti 7, which ends on September 20," said Fuentes.

During the meeting there was also room for a mention of the premises and businesses affected by the problem, since they have not received any help from the Community of Madrid.

In addition, Fuentes has asked for the possibility of a voluntary eviction for the adjoining houses in ground zero until the end of the work and for ex officio files to be opened in them given the "anguish, insecurity, restlessness and frustration that living there entails", in their own terms.

According to the representative of the neighbors, they have also addressed the future of the floors of the demolished buildings, in which there should not be loads.

Likewise, they have mentioned the implementation of the autonomous law that allows speeding up this type of bureaucratic procedures and includes a tax exemption from the autonomous part in the amounts.

"We have offered the possibility of building new homes in the municipality for families who have already lost their home and business, and who are not forced to leave where they chose to live and work," Fuentes himself added to EFE.

In this sense, the president of the neighborhood association has demanded the creation of a social housing park for future evictions to be located in San Fernando de Henares itself, as well as the creation of a new census of those affected.
