The communes urge Aragonès to "govern" and not to fear losing the legislature

Aragonès declared the general elections lost. "We do not deserve a president who considers the legislature lost." Given the upcoming general policy debate in Parliament - on September 28, 29 and 30 - the opposition parties are shaping the criticism that will be heard from the rostrum in those sessions. That of the budget partners -PSC and En Comú Podem- will focus precisely on the management of Pere Aragonès' Executive, specifically, on the execution of the agreements that led to this year's budgets, about which the socialists - a few years ago days - and today the common people have been very critical.

Since the formation of Jéssica Albiach they have denounced this Monday the lack of “ambition and leadership” of the Government, as well as the “many difficulties in executing the agreements it reaches with us”, in reference to the budgets for this 2023. According to the spokesperson for the purple group in the Parliament, these shortcomings mean that we find ourselves facing a Government without a “clear direction” and that has resigned from leading “the most pressing challenges” in terms of education, health, renewable energy or housing, he listed.

In a press conference from the Catalan Chamber, Cid urged the Government to “govern” and to fulfill its “obligation to try to reach a budget agreement” for next year, budgets that could well end up being extended given the uncertainty of the end. of the Catalan legislature. Although the mandate of the ERC Government formally ends at the beginning of 2025, there are many voices that predict that the president will call the elections sooner.

The suspicion that the Catalan Executive would have a budget extension in mind is based on the fact that "as of September 12, they have not taken any steps" to try to design or agree on the new accounts. And given these intentions, the common people express their concern that they "give up the legislature for lost." “If they want to continue governing, they cannot warm the chair, they have to put the machinery in motion, otherwise what are they doing?

The purple formation once again denounces the inaction and lack of audacity of the Government, recalling that so far this year only two laws have been approved in Parliament at the initiative of the Catalan Executive without counting the one on the budgets (the one on the creation of the region of The Lluçanès and the stabilization of the public service). Therefore, Cid has challenged the Government to work on the new budgets "to show that it makes some sense to finish the legislature", because "if you don't want to implement the budgets, you don't want to govern", the spokesperson recriminated.

For the common people, the Government has three opportunities to demonstrate that it wants to finish the legislature: the general policy debate, the Execution of this year's budgets and putting a new budget agreement on the table, something that, for the moment, is being making you wait.

Cid has also spoken about the amnesty and the Diada this Monday. The lesson that his party draws from yesterday's demonstration is that Catalonia has reached a "turning point" and wants to "open a new era." In his opinion, this is what was seen yesterday and was expressed at the polls, in the general elections, that “we want to advance in agreements, in putting an end to the judicialization of politics.”

Furthermore, the spokesperson has criticized the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, after admitting contacts with Junts before Carles Puigdemoint's conference from Brussels, in which he set out the conditions for negotiating an investiture. “He is a liar,” Cid has accused the popular leader, for warning of the “scandal” that Yolanda Díaz has met with Puigdemont and has hidden those contacts until now.
