Sofia confirms the family union

Private, family and religious event. Infanta Sofia received yesterday, in the parish of the Assumption of Our Lady, in Aravaca (Madrid), the sacrament of confirmation, which, at the age of 16, testifies to her belonging and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church . Together with his classmates from the Santa María de los Rosales school and accompanied by his parents, the Kings; of his sister, the princess of Asturias; of Queen Sofia, and of her maternal grandparents, Paloma Rocasolano and Jesús Ortiz, Infanta Sofia also focused an image of family union in which, of the direct relatives, only the king was missing, who currently lives in Abu Dhabi.

The family group arrived together at the entrances to the parish. First they posed for the media the fathers and daughters, and later the three grandparents present were added to the photo: Queen Sofia, Paloma Rocasolano and Jesús Ortiz, who was accompanied by his current wife, Ana Togores, all and that she was not included in the family photo. Queen Sofia made a couple with her sister-in-law, with whom she was holding hands, both at the entrance and exit of the church. Princess Eleonor was also very dependent on her grandparents, especially Queen Sofia - with whom she entered the church, both intertwined at the waist - and Jesús Ortiz, who at one point kissed the hand of his granddaughter.

The whole group appeared together in spring tones. Unlike her first communion, in which the infanta wore the school uniform, for her confirmation Sofia de Borbó wore a set of fuchsia trousers and blouse with part of her belly exposed, from the signature Cayro, while Princess Elionor wore a midi dress printed in wax and blue tones, by the signature Polin et Moi. Queen Letícia, who left the spotlight to her daughters, opted for wide crepe trousers in a raw tone and a pastel pink blouse by Hugo Boss. The infanta, the tallest of the three, wore flat shoes, while the Queen and Princess wore wedge espadrilles. Queen Sofia wore black pants, a white blouse and a pink jacket embroidered with blue and white flowers, while Paloma Rocasolano opted for a salmon-colored jacket dress. The King teamed with a pink tie and Jesús Ortiz stood out with a green tie. After the ceremony, they all shared a lunch at the residence of the Kings, in the Zarzuela.

From the very day of his proclamation, the King has made a separation between the representation of the Crown and his religious beliefs. This decision turned yesterday's celebration, as it already happened with the confirmation of Princess Eleonor and the respective first communions, into a strictly family event.

The King, as happened during Eleonor's confirmation ceremony, which took place on May 28, 2021 still with the restrictions of the pandemic, acted as godfather in the ceremony which he shared with other students of Santa María de the Rosales The school, despite the fact that its character as a Catholic center is stated in its ideology, is open to students of all religions and the subject of Catholic religion is optional. Infanta Sofia is finishing her time at Santa María de los Rosales this year, where she attended pre-school, primary and secondary school. At the end of August, she is scheduled to travel to Wales (United Kingdom) to, following in the footsteps of her sister, Princess Eleonor, study the two high school courses at the Atlantic College boarding school.
