Pedro Sánchez's chances of revalidating the victory in Sunday's general elections depend on mobilizing his electorate in a massive way and that neither the young nor the undecided stay at home. For this reason, yesterday the President of the Central Government challenged these two groups specifically "not to go back and continue to advance", at the central meeting of the PSOE, held at the Fira de Montjuïc, in Barcelona.
Yesterday's, with more than 3,000 attendees - depending on the party -, was the main event of the formation since the campaign began and Sánchez was convinced of his chances of winning the elections. "We will win the elections again on July 23. We will win for the workers, for the rights of pensioners, those of our young people and for the rights of women", remarked the head of the Central Executive.
"You have to go out and vote", exclaimed Sánchez, with a message dedicated especially to the young. "I tell the young people that on July 23 we are gambling with the future of Spain, their future", pointed out the socialist candidate. "What they have to do is go vote, vote for the PSOE to continue moving forward", he replied.
In this sense, the president of the central government also had words for those who have doubts. So, he asked for "one last effort for the undecided, for those who if they vote, vote for the PSOE". "I tell them that one day to vote and four years of progress in rights and freedoms", said Sánchez. "Advance, advance, advance", emphasized the leader of the PSOE in the final debate, as opposed to the proposal attributed to the PP and Vox to "repeal, repeal, repeal".
Likewise, the President of the Central Government vindicated the legislative work of the coalition Executive and the macroeconomic figures of the legislature while assuring that after the elections of July 23 he will govern together with Sumar. "From July 23, I will govern with Yolanda Díaz's party", he asserted. "I say it clearly", said the head of the Central Executive, who until now had not been so explicit in the meetings. Although it may seem like a no-brainer given the circumstances, in the previous general campaign it was never said by the PSOE that there would be a coalition.
And if in the media sphere Sánchez's hare in recent weeks has been former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, on the Catalan stage the one who paved the way and set the pace for the president in the electoral race was the first secretary of the PSC, Salvador Illa, long-distance runner, who was the most belligerent and who raised the tone the most against the PP candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, whom he accused of sowing "insidiousness" with the vote by mail and of "lying" every time he speaks.
"Sánchez is prosperity for everyone, Feijóo is prosperity for a few; Sánchez is social justice, Feijóo is a campi who can; Sánchez is advancing rights, Feijóo is limiting rights; Sánchez is coexistence, Feijóo is a mess, a mess and a mess," countered Illa in his speech, in which he also attacked Junts and Esquerra for talking about institutional blockage and putting a higher price on support for the central government. "Neither block, nor set a price, moving forward is what must be done", he told the sovereignists.
However, in his target the biggest target was Feijóo. "Vox is clear, we know what he says in his program. He wants to return to the 1970s, to the pre-autonomous state", said the leader of the PSC. "The problem isn't Vox, it's the PP and it's Feijóo", concluded Illa afterwards, who harshly criticized the popular parties for their alliances with those of Santiago Abascal and for the "triple of shame: Extremadura, Valencia and the Balearic Islands" .
