Sarah Ferguson, operated on for cancer

Sarah Ferguson (63), ex-wife of Prince Andrew of England, was successfully operated on for breast cancer last week, as her spokesperson has revealed in a statement in recent hours.

The Duchess of York also wanted to convey the importance of regular screening tests, as she had no symptoms and it was during a routine mammogram when the tumor was detected.

According to the same writing, doctors have told her that the prognosis is good and she is already recovering with her family at the Royal Lodge, the residence she continues to share with her ex-husband even though they have been separated for more than three decades.

As she revealed yesterday in her podcast, Tea Talks, recorded a day before the operation, it was her sister who encouraged her to have a mammogram, with which she was able to discover the cancer at an early stage. "It is very important that I speak about it. I tell people because I want everyone who listens to the podcast to do a review," he said.

As she also explained, the operation will be a before and after for her in terms of her health. As a philanthropist, she has worked with cancer charities, particularly the Teenage Cancer Trust, and from speaking to so many cancer patients she draws "certain tips that can help me at this moment". "I take this as a real gift to myself, to change my life, to nourish me. I will understand, I will get very fit, very strong", he added.

Fergie, as she is popularly known in the United Kingdom, was operated on at the private King Edward VII hospital in Marylebone, in central London, where several members of the British royal family have already operated.

During the confession on the podcast, he also referred to his father, who had died of prostate cancer, and therefore emphasized the importance of early detection.

Ferguson's image and regard has evolved greatly among the Windsors since the divorce of Queen Elizabeth II's son. After several decades removed from the British court, in recent years the Duchess of York has been an asset to the family while Prince Andrew's scandals surfaced over the relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

The ex-partner, parents of the princesses Beatriu and Eugènia of York, maintain a close friendship, they continue to share a house and she melts in praise every time she is asked about her ex. “I am divorced and I love being divorced with my ex-husband, not from him, but with him. It's important to differentiate," he joked recently.

In addition, she is in charge of looking after the corgi dogs that survived Elizabeth II.

In recent years, Fergie has married her two daughters and they have made her a grandmother three times. The last was from daughter Eugènia, who gave birth on May 30 to the second son with Jack Brooksbank. For her part, Princess Beatriu, who married in a wedding tarnished by the pandemic and by her father's scandals, had a baby girl, Sienna Mapelli Mozzi, with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in September 2021.
