Participation in the municipal and regional elections at 6:00 p.m. is 51.47%, one and a half points more than that registered at the same time in the previous 2019 elections (49.39%), according to the ministry. inland.
These latest participation data follows the trend of those offered at 2:00 p.m. By autonomous communities, it stands out that Catalonia registered the greatest decrease, with a participation of 44.53% of the census, 6.48 points less than at the same time of the 2019 elections, which was 51.01%. Also noteworthy is the drop in the participation of the Basque Country by 4.08%, remaining at 48.70%.
On the other hand, the community in which participation increased the most was the Valencian Community with an increase of 6.62%, reaching 57.79%. In Madrid it also grew by 5.64%, standing at 56.97%, and other considerable increases occurred in other territories such as the Region of Murcia (5.18%) and Castilla-La Mancha (4.20%).
The Secretary of State for Communication, Francesc Vallès, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Isabel Goicoechea, have stressed the "absolute normality" of the process. "That citizens vote is always good news", Vallès wanted to highlight.
