Mayors pressure Rodríguez to agree with the left on the Provincial Council but he does not give in

When time is running out to reach a progress agreement in the Valencia Provincial Council that allows the left to save at least one provincial institution after 28-M, more than a hundred mayors of the province have signed a manifesto in the who ask for a third progressive government in the provincial corporation. The signatories vindicate the mandate of two legislatures that "has allowed in eight years to transform and adapt the institution to the needs of the municipalities of the province." A nod to the first years in which the Provincial Council was in the hands of Jorge Rodríguez, who now has in his power to agree with the left or give way to the right.

In the early afternoon of Thursday and less than 24 hours after the vote took place, from La Vall Ens Uneix they reiterated that the option of maintaining a progressive government in the Provincial Council was to vote for their candidate. Voting is this Friday at 12 noon.

In this context, an attempt is being made to put pressure on Rodríguez with pronouncements such as the one in the manifesto that highlights the fact that, since 2015, "objectivity has been established in the distribution of institutional aid, transfers have multiplied by six and the autonomy of the city councils to decide the destiny of the investments”.

Along these lines, they emphasize that the Valencia Provincial Council is "the only redoubt to maintain progress policies" and to place at the center of government action "policies aimed at defending the social majority and, especially, those who love it most." they need”. For this reason, they add "the need for a pact between the three formations with representation in the Valencia Provincial Council is more necessary than ever: PSPV, Compromís and Ens Uneix".

The manifesto recalls that the deputies of PSPV and Compromís have reached an agreement on a decalogue of progressive values that would facilitate the investiture in plenary session as president of the mayor of Mislata, Carlos Fernández Bielsa. However, the document adds that "it is necessary that Ens Uneix, a progressive party, also join, so that this decalogue of progressive values can determine the political action of the future government."

For this reason, the signatory mayors "urge the En Uneix formation to make possible and facilitate a political agreement in the Valencia Provincial Council on the principles of social justice, transparency and good governance that consolidate the progress made".
