The mayor of ERC in Barcelona, Ernest Maragall, has called on voters to go to the polls en masse this Sunday to prevent Vox from entering the city hall of the Catalan capital. Given the high number of undecided or abstentionists predicted by the polls, Maragall declared this morning, at a press conference organized by Efe, the need for a high turnout next Sunday with the aim of preventing the far-right party from get representation.
The veteran politician has also criticized that the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, close the campaign this Friday in Barcelona supporting the mayor of the PSC, Jaume Collboni. "The boss is coming to take control of the city: it is what Collboni is offering and what Sánchez is coming to show off," he said.
Maragall added: "He wants us to kneel down and kiss his hands" and stated that Collboni is the "sergeant of the Madrid commanders" but that Barcelona does not accept demonstrations of force like the ones that, in his opinion, the Socialists intend to do on Friday.
I have also referred to the candidacy of former mayor Xavier Trias (Junts), which he considers an operation to "resuscitate" the CDC.
