Iván Redondo: "If the PP wins in Valencia, it will have a foot and a half inside Moncloa"

"If the PP wins the Valencian Community, it will have a foot and a half inside Moncloa", but "if Ximo Puig stays", there can be a party. The political consultant and member of the advisory council of the Godó Group, Iván Redondo, believes that the future of the general elections begins to be written in the regional and municipal elections in May, even though "they are not a first round of the general elections". It is in the Mediterranean where the state board can be extrapolated, since in Valencia, with the PSOE and the PP tied, Podemos can tip the scales.

According to Redondo, the left has a debate from which it must exit "as soon as possible", referring to the possible unity pact around Yolanda Díaz's Sumar platform. The consultant is optimistic and is convinced that after 28-M there will be an agreement. At the moment there is none and in the Valencian Community the sum of the PSOE and Compromís is practically tied with that of the PP and Vox, and Podemos is on the threshold of entering the Valencian Courts, and "if it does not succeed, Ximo Puig loses the Executive".

What happens in Madrid is also important to determine if Isabel Díaz Ayuso gets the absolute majority she craves. "If Podemos does not get 5% of the vote, it is almost certain that Ayuso will have it," warns Redondo.

And this is where the Add factor comes in, with the Podemos variable. "In Spain, there are 28 provinces with less than six deputies", therefore, "to be third you have to be strong in the rural world". In conclusion, "if Sumar goes with a motor, Podemos would be third", and this would tip the balance in favor of Sánchez.

As for the PSOE, Redondo believes that if Sánchez wants to win the elections in Feijóo "he can't appear to be running the Sumar campaign". In fact, the consultant believes that the president of the central government "has realized" that Sumar must have its space, "with Podemos engine", he insisted, and has given a "blip on the steering wheel" to distance himself. In addition, the PSOE will play the "symbolic battles" - Seville, Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona - on the 28th, which will "say things about the battle for Moncloa". To succeed, the PSOE must bet on "classic socialism" and not on "mahogany", he opined.

As for the PP, Redondo believes that he has realized that he may not win the 28-M and that he could only govern with Vox. That's why "Feijóo has lowered expectations". Despite this, the leader of the PP has achieved a "remarkable high" in his first year at the head of the party, to the point of emulating in the polls "the results of the best Rajoy", but his handicap remains that "the pacts are the reality and government alone cannot exist only in Andalusia".

In the case of Yolanda Díaz and Podemos, Redondo believes that in the end they will agree because Podemos has shown that "it is tough, that it is alive, and that the operation to kill Podemos does not work".

Expectations for Yolanda Díaz are high, because in the elections in May "she is running in Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona" and "who says she can't be the first president of Spain?", she questions.

Redondo also spoke about Barcelona and Catalonia. In the first case, he continues to see Jaume Collboni as the favorite because "he has the best car" and he is "the one who has the ability to put together agreements to be mayor". Although "everything is very close", he says, "the interesting thing will be to see which two will stay", something that he believes will be decided during the campaign.

The political consultant also praised Pedro Sánchez for the "brave" and "bold" decision to undertake the reunion agenda, the balance of which is "positive", he said, but warned that the task must be completed . "Total reunion is the project, and it will be with everyone, including Carles Puigdemont."
