Greta Thunberg, on trial for public disorder

Environmental activist Greta Thunberg pleaded "not guilty" in a British court on Wednesday to a crime of public disorder for her participation in a protest that took place in October against the fossil fuel industry. According to the judge yesterday, Thunberg's trial will be held on February 1, 2024 at the City of London Magistrates' Court and is expected to last two days. Thunberg, 20, appeared yesterday along with four other activists from the Fossil Free London organization at Westminster Magistrates' Court in the center of the capital, where she confirmed her identity, although not her address in Sweden, which was not read aloud for fear of the threats he claims to have received. The Swedish activist, who until then will be in unconditional freedom along with the other activists, did not make statements to the numerous media who were at the entrance of the building, accompanied by around thirty activists from environmental groups such as now Stop Oil, Greenpeace and Fossil Free London. Thunberg is one of the 26 people charged for their involvement in the protest held on October 17 during

an Energy Intelligence Forum. / Agencies
