Feijóo sees in today's debate a preview of the defeat of PSOE and Vox

In the PP they are convinced that, in the end, the motion will turn against the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal. In fact, they consider –contrary to what Ramón Tamames said that if the vote were secret he would get more support– that if it were not really public not even all of Abascal's deputies would vote for the candidate. "Neither the Vox electorate understands what Abascal is doing nor part of the leadership of the far-right formation," they maintain in the party.

PP sources admit, on the other hand, that the motion can be a "oxygen ball" for Pedro Sánchez, but they believe that it will also end up turning against him if, as he claims, the president focuses his speech on questioning the popular leader. "Every time he messes with Feijóo, he shows his desperation," popular sources underline.

Despite the fact that, as a senator, Alberto Núñez Feijóo could be present in Congress – but he could not speak – he has decided not to attend. He will not have any public act and only plans to go to the Swedish embassy. With his absence, the president of the PP wants to express his disagreement with this motion of censure, knowing that both the PSOE and Vox will use the debate to attack him.

In this sense, the popular leader assures that he "feels comfortable" becoming an involuntary protagonist because his speeches are focused on him, and more so in his absence. "It is an indication of weakness" especially on the part of Pedro Sánchez, and the fact that he agrees on this with his main adversary, Vox, makes him the only alternative to the current government.

With Feijóo absent, the voice of the Popular Party in the motion will be its number two, Cuca Gamarra, who in the face of "the trenches of Vox and the PSOE bloc politics" will underline that "there is another way of doing politics."

This does not mean that the PP is not going to be critical of the Sánchez Government: the law of only yes is yes, sedition, embezzlement and even economic policy, of which the PP has a very different vision from that of the Government .

The PP will seek a balance between the institutional respect that this constitutional procedure deserves and the fraud that, in its opinion, this motion that does not intend to change the Government implies, since there is not a single possibility of obtaining that relief, but rather it is a campaign to promote the president of Vox.

The popular will defend from the rostrum of Congress, that the only way to replace the Government is the elections, and the PP will present itself as the only alternative to the Government of Pedro Sánchez in those elections. Alberto Núñez Feijóo will resume his public activity as soon as the motion of censure is over.

Feijóo's absence was questioned yesterday by Vox's Vice President of Political Action, Jorge Buxadé. The Spanish "have the right to know the position of the PP", criticizing at the same time the abstention announced by this party.
