Feijóo intends to show muscle in the street 48 hours before his inauguration, which is expected to fail

48 hours after the debate for his investiture, which is expected to fail, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, today takes to the streets his alternative to a Pedro Sánchez government and the amnesty requested by the Catalan independence movement.

He does not have enough support to be elected president, but he seeks to show the muscle of his party, which governs in the majority of Spanish regions and cities, and which closes ranks with its candidate in the face of a complex week, in which, barring surprise, awaits the confirmation that in this attempt he will not reach Moncloa.

This 'great event' announced by the PP and its leaders will be held today, Sunday, September 24, just 48 hours before Feijóo's investiture, at 12:00 p.m. in the Plaza de Felipe II in Madrid and will be attended by the main voices of the party at the national and territorial level, in addition to the presence of former presidents José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy, under the motto 'In the face of amnesty, equality', as the PP has announced on its social networks.

On the occasion of this 'massive mobilization', the PP has chartered dozens of buses throughout Spain to attend the rally this Sunday, in which the party leadership wants the spotlight to fall on its leader and candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who will present his alternative to a Pedro Sánchez government and the amnesty requested by the Catalan independence movement.

To ensure this, according to Europa Press, more than 1,000 people from Castile-La Mancha mobilized by the PP of Castilla-La Mancha will attend the call. 25 buses are also scheduled from Castilla y León, from where the party expects many militants to also approach Madrid by train or car.

The PP of Murcia and Cantabria have also confirmed the presence of their delegations and militants from their regions at this "great event" that is expected to be massive, according to sources from Feijóo's team: they anticipate that the chosen site, the Plaza de Felipe II , "it remains small", although the number of attendees at the call is not anticipated

The PP also intends to leave a photo of unity after complicated weeks and internal noise due to the setback of the 23-J result, which no one expected. There will be practically the entire roster of regional presidents of the PP, including the Madrid-born Isabel Díaz Ayuso and the Andalusian Juanma Moreno.

The president of the Catalan PP, Alejandro Fernández, will also attend, who openly questioned Feijóo for his decision to meet with Junts, which the PP leader reversed.

The mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and the Madrid president will take the stage with a brief greeting and then Aznar, Rajoy and Feijóo will speak. One of the unknowns today, the first public event that Feijóo has participated in in Madrid since the election night, will be to see if the supporters receive their president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, with more fervor and applause than Feijoó himself, as already happened on the election night. .

At the same time, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will speak at the Rose Festival that the PSC celebrates every year in Gavà. It will be interesting to see if he finally talks about the issue of amnesty, the pretext on which the popular party has mounted its protest act, finally converted into a rally to show off its leader 48 hours before he faces the Congress debate on investment.

The appointment also occurs in the midst of criticism of Sánchez by historical leaders of the PSOE such as former president Felipe González or Alfonso Guerra and when the PP has directly urged that socialist deputies opposed to possible pacts with the independentists break discipline. of vote.
