"080 highlights the fashion industry in Catalonia, and from the Generalitat we support all the professionals who make it possible", with these words Pere Aragonès inaugurated the 31st edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion yesterday. Until Friday, a total of 25 firms and designers will parade in the Sant Pau modernist complex. Despite the fact that the fashion platform is promoted by the Government, there have been very few times that a president of the Generalitat has attended any of the parades of the previous editions, which is why the presence of Aragonès with his wife has been positively evaluated , Janina Juli, as well as Roger Torrent, Minister of Business and Work, and Agnès Russiñol, director of the Consortium of Trade, Crafts and Fashion of Catalonia.
During the different parliaments, all three politicians have emphasized that 080 Barcelona Fashion is a showcase for the talent and creativity of Catalan design and a reflection of the values of today's society, which is committed to sustainability and diversity and the inclusion of all genders, bodies and people. And this was reflected in the casting of models that paraded on the first day of 080: more variety of sizes, races, ages and genders.
Simorra was in charge of opening the catwalk, with Aragonès present in the front row, who also visited the backstage and greeted the designers. The collection of this firm, with more than 40 years, for spring-summer 2023 is called In-Touch and it is like remembering the summers of our childhood through the touch of fabrics: embroidered cottons, macrame crafts, tweeds, jacquards, guipure...
This was followed by the parade of two emerging firms such as The Artelier, an explosion of color to the rhythm of live music by Subliminal and Laretta, a collection of contrasting colors, volumes and textures inspired by life and death.
Oscar León has returned to 080 after a few years of absence. It has returned in collaboration with the knitting firm Bielo and the result is genderless pieces, with a combination of colors and pattern experimentation.
The first day of the 31st edition of 080 was closed by the Escorpión company with the autumn-winter collection Un jersey Escorpión. A bet on natural tones, volumes, oversized pieces and the point as the DNA of this firm for women with almost 100 years of history.
