Cleaning, security, minimum wage... Trias presents 80 measures for the first 80 days

The candidacy of Xavier Trias has presented this Thursday 80 measures for the first 80 days of his mandate, an initiative that seeks a coup d'état in the final stretch of the campaign and to return to situate the electoral program and the proposals in the center beyond the pim pam pum of these two weeks of electoral race.

Trias himself, and the councilors of JxCat Neus Munté and Jordi Martí, who is also campaign manager, have presented in a press conference some of the measures related to the field of cleaning, security, the minimum interprofessional salary for Catalan capital, the recovery of the interior of the blocks of the Eixample or housing.

Thus, Trias plans to cite cleaning service contractors in the first days of his term if he is elected mayor on June 17, to stop the works planned by the current municipal government to make the so-called "superilles" that have not yet begun , bring together the local safety board to bring a crash plan there or discuss with the social agents and the State the recognition of an interprofessional minimum wage for the city of Barcelona. However, Munté, who has referred to this last aspect, has not detailed any figures. "We do not want to enter an auction or a war of figures. We are talking about the city's minimum wage because the cost of living is higher," he pointed out. The minimum wage is a proposal that Trias already put on the table in 2015, when he was still mayor, but the project was later left in a drawer.

Other notable measures that Munté explained are creating a commissioner for the Catalan language and a language office and reinforcing the work so that Barcelona is recognized as the "European capital of local commerce" and that "the technical office of this capital comes to Barcelona". The post-convergents hope that "it will be the seed of local commerce", which, they say, "generates economic activity and backbones the neighborhoods".

In terms of housing, Trias's candidacy has highlighted that they will roll up their sleeves to work on an agreement with various actors to make a long-term housing plan. "It's not just building, it's also rehabilitating. We have areas of Barcelona in which the situation of the houses is that they are in very poor condition," the candidate pointed out.

On the other hand, Trias stressed that the "main political threat" is that the mayoress Ada Colau "continue" in the Barcelona City Council. In any case, the former convergent mayor has assured that he will not reverse the works that he has already started on the so-called "green axes", and that what he will not do is apply those that are pending to begin.

Asked what his major city projects will be, the post-convergent candidate has indicated that his major urban transformations will be to join El Paral·lel with the Marina del Prat Vermell neighborhood, cover the Ronda de Dalt and finish the water road, connect El Besòs with the coastal front or join La Sagrera, Glòries and Estación de França in a single axis and build housing.

Likewise, he has assured that after the appointment with the polls on Sunday, he hopes to go eat with her. "If we went to eat before the campaign, the logical thing would be that we go to eat again and be able to relativize things and have a good personal relationship, which is what you never have to lose."
