The former president of the Parliament and relevant figure of ERC, Carme Forcadell, has congratulated all the Montserrats this Thursday on the day of the patron saint of Catalonia. In the statement of this message, she wanted to take advantage and ask the 'moreneta' virgin for a "miracle" and make it rain throughout Catalonia to alleviate the drought.
In a tweet, Forcadell wished "all Monserrats" a happy day. Adding that "La Moreneta, if she can work miracles, let her rain a fine and constant rain throughout the country."
The drought that affects Catalonia is breaking all records due to lack of rainfall, with almost two years of rainfall well below the usual parameters. So far this year, it has rained 70% less than usual.
Likewise, the reservoirs of the interior basins of the Ter and Llobregat rivers are only at 25% of their capacity, which is causing great concern for Catalonia, since the entire Barcelona conurbation is in a state of exceptionality due to the lack of water.
