A Quart drum teacher faces 48 years for abusing five students

The Girona Court started yesterday to judge the drum teacher from Quart (Gironès) Jordi B., who is facing 48 years in prison accused of sexually abusing five students between 2009 and 2020. Most of them were minors when they began to suffer the alleged abuses, which would have taken place at the defendant's home, in an underground room next to the garage he had enabled to teach classes there.

Three of the victims who testified yesterday agreed by pointing out the "admiration" they felt for the musician, whom they saw as "a reference" and an "idol". They also highlighted the "friendly" and "affectionate" character that he showed from the first moment by giving them two kisses on the cheek or one on the mouth when they entered the classroom and how little by little he gained the their trust and that of their families to commit the abuses, which began, most of the time, with the accused offering a back massage.

One of the witnesses, who was 14 years old when he started taking lessons at the defendant's house, explained that, three months after he had received the first notions of drums, the "inappropriate touches" and comments and questions came of a sexual nature He points out that he was not aware that what he was suffering was sexual abuse, until almost two years later, in 2014, the accused pulled down his pants and masturbated him. He continued with the classes until 2017 because "I didn't see myself being able to explain to my parents what was happening". Another of the witnesses who attended classes between the ages of 8 and 18 explained that the first abuses came at the age of 12. "He told me that it was normal, that he was an open person, but at that age I had not had never any relationship", he testified.

The Prosecutor's Office requests 43 years in prison for the accused; the private accusation, 48, and the defense, acquittal. The defendant will testify tomorrow.
