WTA-boss: Caroline gave the sport its big heart

MELBOURNE (Ekstra Bladet): Shortly after the celebration of Caroline Wozniacki on the Melbourne Arena, she was transported over to Rod Laver Arena for her to be celebrated by the WTA, the global organization behind the women's elitetennis.

At an office kept a fairly touched the WTA-president Micky Lawler a speech for her and thanked for her very great contribution to the sport over the years, before Caroline and Piotr Wozniacki, both held acceptance speeches and wished good luck.

In the gift Caroline got a photo collage of some of the greatest moments from his career.

A career, as canadian Stacey Allaster has followed closely as the president of the WTA in the period from 2009 to 2017. Extra Blade caught her shortly after the meeting.

I stand here with very mixed feelings. It has been a long journey, she said.

Caroline is a very talented young woman, with new dreams and a sweet man. So I'll be superglad to her and her family's behalf.

- What she gave to the WTA-tour?

- She brought an incredible level of professionalism and an incredible heart.

She was a hard working athlete who always understood the importance of fanbasen. She always gave back to the sport's fans, and that's why she's so loved by all.

She gave more to the sport than she was, and that is exactly what you expect from a great champion. And it is Caroline.

Wozniacki sat for some years in the spillerrådet and negotiated with Allaster as the counterparty. Also has bed she stuck in the table.

- She is a very intelligent young woman. Confident, direct, honest, says Stacey Allasters characteristics.

She put always her sense, when she sat in the meetings. Sometimes we agree, other times not, but we knew all that it was in the common interest, to kvindetennis grew globally.

- It was always extremely respectful. She was never stingy with sharing his opinions. But she always had an eye for the best.
