president of the UNITED states, Donald Trump, is considering to accept an invitation from the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to attend the annual military parade in Moscow on the anniversary of the end of the Second world War.

- It is a very big thing to celebrate the end of the Second world War, said the Trump Friday.

- It is right in the middle of the political season, so I will see if it can be done. But I would love to take with you, if I can, said Trump unsolicited, in a statement to reporters.

Only twice before has an american president attended the large military parade on the Sejrsdagen, as the anniversary is called in Russia, which Putin uses as a showcase for the Russian military. It was Bill Clinton in 1995 and George W. Bush in 2005, writes the Washington Post.

Other western leaders have in recent years stayed away on the anniversary, after Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine.
