Today opens transportation hub after nine months

on Friday morning, it becomes again possible to pass the old little belt bridge between Jutland and Funen in the car.

A comprehensive refurbishment has meant that the bridge has been blocked for traffic since 29. January.

Therefore the reopening is also a "day of celebration", says the mayor of Middelfart, Johannes Lundsfryd (S).

Together with Fredericia's mayor, Karl Eilersen, he shall inaugurate the bridge with 2000 pieces brunsviger to the first drivers on the jutland side.

- We have seen very much forward to the reopening. It is a transportation hub between Funen and Jutland for both students and people who must work, says Johannes Lundsfryd.

the Closure of the bridge has, according to the mayor also been felt in the commercial life of Middelfart.

- We have been able to see it on the commercial life of the local pedestrian street in Middelfart, denmark, that there have been longer between the customers, says Johannes Lundsfryd.

He is however not in doubt that the citizens will take the bridge in use, as soon as it opens for drivers at 7.15 on Friday.

- Who will not like to save 5, 10 or 15 minutes travelling time each way? I think it's going to go lightning fast to get the traffic on the bridge, he says.

There will be also held concerts in Middelfart, denmark to celebrate the re-opening on Friday and the coming days.

The old little belt bridge needed a comprehensive renovation, since several parts of the bridge were worn. According to the Danish road directorate to the renovation keeping the next 50 years.

Also, the part that separates the railroad and the roadway, needed to be replaced.

the Bridge has two long periods of time been closed to car traffic. 20 weeks in 2018 and 35 weeks in 2019.

Train traffic and the walking path has been maintained as normal.

5. October marked the reopening with a fun run on ten kilometres. It is the little belt half marathon, which organises the race.
