A south african lawyer was shot and killed when a gun dropped during a trial.

It writes several media outlets - including The Times and the People.

Addelaid Ferreira Watts at 51 years old was in court as a defense attorney, when a loaded gun fell down on the floor during the trial and fired a shot.

the Weapon was allegedly used in court as evidence of a hjemmerøveri.

the Woman was hit in the hip and taken to the hospital, where she died Monday evening.

'Unfortunately, we can't come up with additional information because the investigation is still at a sensitive stage', told Jay Naicker from the police in his statement.

In an opinion from another lawyer in the south african province of KwaZuluNatal confirmed the death.

'It is with great sadness that I must inform that our lawyer Addelaid Watts is deceased. Her untimely death affects us all, and we are all in grief. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. The family want their privacy to be respected', it sounded in the message.
