Ice cold captain put in kæmpestorm

The Norwegian captain Tormod Karlsen experienced a bit of a challenge, as he 21. January should put in Bodø Harbour.

Karlsen stood behind the helm of the passenger ship MS Nordnorge, which is one of several ships on the 'Hurtigruten between Bergen and Kirkenes.

In Bodø Harbour was the Norwegian captain in full time with his entry, as it blew strongly up to a wind speed of 30 meters per second.

It was quiet when we came into the harbour, but then came strong gusts from the northwest, telling the captain Tormod Karlsen to NRK.

At the time, had the ship already cast anchor, and there was talk about a 'point of no return'situation," explains the captain on the rare situation.

- It is only in exceptional cases, we put the dock in such a wind.

- We just had to stand and use the engines for all they were worth.
