The dual Formula 1 and Le Mans-winner Fernando Alonso had a miserable start of the tenth stage of this year's Dakar Rally, as he is just two kilometers inside the 534-kilometer-long stage ran lopsidedly out of a sand dune, and rolled around twice in his Toyota Hilux. It writes CNN.
Neither Alonso or his co-driver Marc Coma was injured in the crash, but the same can't be said for the car. The pair had to remove remove the the windscreen before they could continue the race, and it is estimated that the damage to the car costing them 68 lost minutes.

Goncalves is the 29. participant who have died in the Dakar Rally, since the course was run for the first time in 1979.
